FAMILY ENTREPRENEURS' DAYS 2024 in Wiesbaden
Marie-Christine Ostermann opened the FAMILIENUNTERNEHMER-Tage 2024 in Wiesbaden today to mark the 75th anniversary of our association with pithy words in the presence of our Federal Chancellor: "Your Vice-Chancellor can't do it... Don't let him trample on your nose." were her words in her welcoming speech. Courageous and pithy, our Chairwoman took a clear stand and formulated clear demands to politicians.
The President of the Family Business Association personally addressed a great expectation to the Chancellor: "You yourself have said that those who order leadership from you will receive it. We take you at your word: we family entrepreneurs are ordering leadership from you today!
The Federal Chancellor's speech was eagerly awaited in light of the welcoming speech. However, apart from the fact that he himself helped to develop the current inheritance tax regulations during his time as Finance Minister and wants to stick to them, there was little hope for the much-needed economic turnaround in our country. He did not convey that he had a strategy or concept for solving today's major challenges.
There was Eric Gujereditor-in-chief of the NZZ, is much more specific! As a Swiss citizen who has followed German politics for decades, he recommends better rules for migration that are accepted by the citizens as well as urgently needed social and tax reforms in our country, embedded in an energy price strategy.
A highlight of the first day was the keynote speech by Hermann Simonwho outlined the success factors of hidden champions. In a whimsical, entertaining and pointed manner, he was able to draw convincingly on his decades of research and present key success factors. However, against the background of his research findings, he also said that, in his opinion, politics has little influence on the corporate success of hidden champions. However, "the ambition to be the best and focus" are key success factors for hidden champions.
As regional chairman in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and as a native of the Electoral Palatinate, I was particularly pleased with the words of welcome from Manfred Fuchs, our model family entrepreneur, who has been loyal to our association with his membership for more than 60 years. Last year, we were guests with our regional group at Stefan Fuchs and Dr. Susanne Fuchs and were able to see the impressive development of the company for ourselves.
Professor Lars P. Feld concluded the first day with his presentation "Confidence instead of shrill tones - economic policy for the turnaround". This matched the motto of our FAMILY ENTREPRENEURS' DAYS 2024: "FORWARD WITH CONFIDENCE!"
Some questions still remain:
Will the traffic lights bring about an economic turnaround?
If politics with a Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz a fundamentally different one on the assumption that he also needs two coalition partners?
And are we now getting "guidance" from the Federal Chancellor?
